LEGALIZE, REGULATE AND TAX MARIJUANA
RE "GROW-ops swamp cops" (Dec. 18): There is a simple and easy way to put
the grow-ops out of business overnight. The same way the U.S. put the
bathtub gin producers out of business overnight 70 years ago: By
legalizing, not decriminalizing, the sale and production of marijuana.
Only legal products can be regulated by governments. Only legal products
can be controlled by governments. And only legal products can be taxed by
governments.
Speaking of taxes, Canada is wasting several hundred billion dollars in
potential tax income by keeping marijuana a criminalized product.
