DEFENDING DRUGS NEEDS LOGIC
I just read Chris Buors's letter ("Drugs are a property; we have a natural
right to them," Dec. 30). I cannot decide which I would like back more -
the minute it took me to read it, or the 75 cents I paid for the privilege.
I agree with him we are talking about the moral code of the Canadian
people, and I am glad the Supreme Court upheld that moral code.
Aside from the fact there is no such thing as a natural right, I would ask
Buors to show me what mixture of which chemicals on the periodic table he
would mix to make a plant.
By invoking terms such as "the Fuhrer Principle" and paraphrasing Plato he
is simply showing he can throw words around. What he is not doing is making
a serious argument in favour of legalization of drugs.
