JUST SAY NO
When kids get caught doing illegal drugs in school, they often face
serious consequences. Yet, when kids are more than a handful at
school, they can be forced to take psychiatric drugs or be expelled.
In a time when the government is spending nearly $1 billion a month to
fight the war on drugs, millions of children are being force-fed
cocaine-like stimulants by school nurses instead of, say, having their
issues addressed in a normal manner.
Now moms and dads whose kids have been labeled and forced to take
drugs are demanding an end to this frightening practice, and it looks
like the government may get on board, too. In May, the House of
Representatives voted 425 to 1 to pass the Child Medication Safety
Act, which would protect parents and children against such coercion.
It's now on to the Senate.
Let's make sure doctors, not teachers, diagnose mental health problems
and prescribe kids drugs.
