DOG EAT DOGG

I'm writing to express concerns about the recent Snoop Dogg concert
that was held in Grande Prairie last month. What concerns me is this
"entertainer" is a known drug advocate, an alleged gang supporter, and
has been indicted for major offences.

And our community welcomed him with open arms. I heard people saying
how great that Grande Prairie finally has a concert for the youth. If
these are the ideals that we are trying to promote for our youth, than
I think it's time I went somewhere else!

On one hand, we have many people working hard at trying to promote
positive influences in our community and on the other we welcome
someone promoting the opposite.

What even makes me more concerned is that this concert was held in a
publicly-funded venue (Crystal Centre). While I realize the city may
have only rented the building, at the same time they are condoning all
the activities that go along with this concert. How could they allow
someone to smoke marijuana on stage and say that they are not
condoning it?

If public venues are used for concerts and "entertainment" it's about
time they started being accountable for what the so called "artists"
are promoting within this community. Perhaps the city shouldn't worry
so much about making a profit at the Crystal Centre and work on our
community!
