LEWIS HAS HIS EYE ON THE PAINFUL TRUTH

To the Editor:

It is refreshing to hear a voice of reason among the din of
prohibitionist zealots. Syracuse Auditor Minch Lewis hints at the
painful truth: Legalization and regulation are the only way out. How
legitimate can a law be when it is ignored by such a large percentage
of citizens?

The just powers of government derive from the consent of the governed,
which has been withdrawn. The drug war continues at our peril as a
nation.
