ROUGH PLAY THE ONLY LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND

Re: Two Vancouver police officers sentenced to house arrest, Jan. 6

What a relief to see fair judgment prevail. There was no argument that
these young cops did a bit of roughing up. But there is no argument either
that this was the only language understood by both sides.

Fortunately, these officers will have learned a bit more about the
righteous public and the media, and they'll be better officers -- to our
benefit.

Compare their harmless roughing-up of drug dealers with hockey. The fans
scream in delight at every rough play. But how many players have suffered
egregious harm and injury from the hired goons on skates?
