GLAD TO SEE OFFICERS CITED IN MARIJUANA CASE
I agree entirely with the News' views as expressed in its Jan. 4 editorial,
"DEA should give back patient's pot."
I, too, hope the judge in this matter cites the Drug Enforcement Agency with
contempt. I was glad to see he at least took swift action against the
Colorado officers (and the DEA agent) who were involved in this miscarriage
of justice ("9 officers cited for contempt in pot case," Jan. 8).
Colorado maintains a registry of medical marijuana patients. One of its
functions is to provide law enforcement with information as to who is
legally eligible to possess marijuana. It would have been easy to confirm
that Don Nord was among those so registered, and it should be policy to make
such determination before invading anyone's home.
