MARIJUANA FACTORY RAIDED
A raid on an abandoned brewery near the Ontario city of Barrie netted 30,000
marijuana plants in what the police said was the biggest growing operation
ever found in Canada. The police said the factorylike operation used miles
of irrigation piping and 1,000 hydroponic lights to nurture plants in an
area of 60,000 square feet. Nine men were arrested. A police official said
as many as 50 workers were living in dormitorylike rooms with refrigerators,
stoves and televisions.
