POLICE PROBE NEEDED

I was horrified to read Kirk Makin's report on the corruption and
criminality in the Toronto police drug unit (Police Blocked Corruption
Probe -- Jan. 20). At what point did these "officers" cease to be policemen
and become just another criminal gang, albeit one in uniform?

It is hard to believe that their activities remained unknown to colleagues
and senior officers. Perhaps a public inquiry into Toronto's police force
might now be in order.
