TAKE ACTION ON CLINIC

In December, it was brought to the attention of Washington County residents
that a methadone clinic was planning to locate on Old Dominion Road and had
applied for an occupancy permit.

Since that time, the neighbors in Lowry Hills organized. Over 700 signatures
were collected on petitions, countless letters of opposition were mailed and
a called meeting of the Board of Supervisors was held to allow discussion on
the issue.

Residents attended a second supervisors' meeting in January to show their
continued opposition and the supervisors went into executive session to
discuss the matter. What else is there to discuss?

Attorney Mike Bragg presented facts that show the building is already in
violation and should have been removed and that the clinic does not meet the
requirements for B-2 zoning.

What I don't understand is why it is still under consideration. They have
valid legal reasons for denying the request and they need to say no.

Washington County residents need to be represented. It is time for the
County Administrator to make the decision to support his county residents
and deny the permit for the methadone clinic.
