ADDICTION SYMPOSIUM FOCUSES ON LOCAL SOLUTIONS
About 140 health care workers, educators and social workers attended a
symposium on addiction at the Hotel Cheribourg in Orford Thursday. The
symposium, featured workshops on recent research with focus this year on
four programs offered in the Townships. A new partnership is being formed
between the groups offering community services relating to addiction -
school boards, the Surete du Quebec, and the youth centres to help evaluate
the adolescents at risk. DEP-ADO is an evaluation tool used to determine
what course of action to take for a teen possibly suffering from addiction
to drugs or alcohol.
