HANDBOOK AIDS FRONTLINE STAFF
The Drug Response Task Force Is Armed And Ready.
Over the past year the group has assembled a 107-page handbook for
frontline workers dealing with those abusing substance like crystal meth.
Prevention tips
While many who encounter a young person using drugs are not trained
counsellors, the handbook aims to provide information and material ranging
from prevention tips to a drug response treatment model.
One-of-a-kind
"The handbook is an excellent resource for frontline workers, and unique in
that there is no other publication that we're aware of that is as
comprehensive in its content. The task force worked diligently on the
handbook for almost a year to ensure the production of a publication that
meets the needs of frontline workers dealing with at-risk youth," said Tim
Chamberlin a member of the Drug Response Task Force.
High demand
The handbook will be distributed to schools in the Battle River School
Division and it will be available at the Camrose Public Library. Several
communities throughout Alberta and beyond, have requested a copy of the
book. To help kick off the book's release Feb. 2 at 9 a.m. at the Camrose
Community Centre, minister of Child and Family Services Iris Evans will be
in attendance.
Community invited
As well representatives from justice, law enforcement, health and education
have been invited to take part. Members of the community are also invited
to attend.
