LIMBAUGH'S PLIGHT ILLUSTRATES FLAWS OF THE DRUG WAR
Re: "Limbaugh needs treatment, not privacy invasions" (Letters, Jan. 30).
Rush Limbaugh and every other adult citizen should be free to smoke,
swallow, snort or inject any substance he wants - as long as he is
personally responsible for the consequences.
More than 400,000 Americans are in jail or prison for doing what
Limbaugh is alleged to have done. If Limbaugh purchased the amount of
drugs that is alleged, he is automatically considered a drug dealer in
the eyes of the law.
If Limbaugh were somebody else, he would be handcuffed and wearing an
orange jumpsuit. There would be no discussion of his right to privacy
by a high-priced attorney.
His options would be to accept a plea bargain with a lengthy prison
sentence or go to trial and face certain conviction with an even more
lengthy prison sentence.
