INJECTING SARCASM INTO THE CLINIC DEBATE

The proposed methadone clinic being placed in a community setting on
Hershberger Road in Northwest Roanoke may be a needed service, but it needs
to be put in a hospital setting, not in a residential area where children
are raised and businesses are established.

The following reflects the possible negative effect this clinic can, or
will, have on this community, due to the surrounding schools, businesses
and residences:

Come to Roanoke where methadone addicts will cause the value of your
property and homes that you've worked hard to purchase go down the drain.

Come to Roanoke where methadone addicts lie in wait for your children as
they attend nearby schools, such as William Fleming High School, to perhaps
one day influence them to become addicts, too. That's why we send them to
school isn't it, to be all they can be?

Of course, the above is full of sarcasm, but perhaps that is what is
needed, since pleas from the community are seemingly being ignored.

This facility needs to be in a hospital or clinical setting, not in a
residential area.
