POLITICIANS INCREASE THE GAP BETWEEN RICH AND POOR

State Rep. Gregg Underheim, having undergone prostate cancer surgery and
the possibility of chemotherapy has evidently changed his position on the
medical use of marijuana. That is good. Having spent 25 years in and around
hospitals I have favored the medical use of marijuana since I first heard
of it.

Underheim being a member of the Assembly didn't have to worry about paying
for his surgery just as I then working for the Department of Corrections
didn't worry about paying for open-heart surgery. That is the way it should
be for everyone.

Medical care should not be a privilege but a right in the richest country
in the world. It is in all developed countries except the United States.
Family values fit in here somewhere.

Perhaps politicians opposed to a raise in the minimum wage should live on
that wage for a while. The same politicians who refused to raise the
minimum wage continue to raise their salaries and of course have full
benefits. Shame! Shame!
