LEAVING THE JOINT OPEN LEADS TO BUST
Put this one in the stupid crooks' file. Cops managed to nab more than
$500,000 worth of pot from a home in Sundance simply because the people
growing the illegal weed forgot to shut a door.
District 8 Const. Don Johnson was called to a home on Sun Lake Way S.E.
yesterday after a neighbour called cops.
"The citizen noticed the garage door was open, thought it might have been
the work of (a break and enter thief) and called us," said Calgary police
Insp. Luch Bertie.
Johnson, 38, said once he got in the house, he searched upstairs in the
bi-level home.
"There wasn't a whole lot of furniture in the place and none in the
bedroom," he said.
When he went to a landing leading to the basement, Johnson saw the
pot-growing operation.
"It was visible, so I backed right out of the house because I knew I needed
a warrant."
No arrests have been made.
