WHAT COUNTRY IS THIS?
To the Editor:
I'm amazed and appalled that Narragansett High School officials would
suspend a student because drug-sniffing dogs indicated the presence of
drugs in his locker even though no drugs were found there ("Dogs sniff
drugs at NHS;" Feb. 4).
These school administrators would have no legal ground to stand on if
the student in question challenged the suspension in a court of law.
In America, all citizens, including high school students, are supposed
to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
What country do these school officials think they're in when they
would suspend a student based on nothing more than a dog's bark?
