REAL-ESTATE GROUP TARGETS FORMER GROW HOUSE SITES
Vancouver -- People selling homes in British Columbia are going to
have to declare if the properties were ever used as marijuana grow
operations.
The B.C. Real Estate Association is amending the property disclosure
statement to show if grow ops or illegal drug manufacturing occurred
at the house or on the property.
Marijuana and other drug operations can cause damage to a house and
other hazards, association president David Herman said. The decision
to amend the disclosure form was made in consultation with other
real-estate boards and the RCMP, he said.
Property disclosure statements provide a written review of the
condition of a property for sale.
One of the new questions will ask the following: Are you aware if the
premises or property have been used as a marijuana grow operation or
to manufacture illegal drugs?
