PANEL WILL DISCUSS EMPLOYER POLICIES FOR MARIJUANA
This Friday, the Humboldt County Workforce Investment Board will hold a
panel discussion on Senate Bill 420, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, and
the labor-law implications of medical marijuana for employers.
Frank Sanderson, regional manager of TOC Management Services, and Kurt
Barthel, deputy labor commissioner for Humboldt and Del Norte counties,
will be on the panel.
They will address how marijuana compares to prescription drugs in the
workplace and what policies employers should consider.
The board's meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and the panel discussion starts at
9 a.m. at the Humboldt County Office of Education. Community residents may
attend.
The board includes local leaders from business, education, economic
development, labor and workforce training groups, with the majority
representing private-sector employers.
It brings to light important employer issues, and recommends policy and
systems for delivering services to employers and employees. Community
