POT SEIZED

WINCHESTER, ONT. - Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and the
Cornwall Regional Task Force have arrested two people and seized over
1,475 (800 mature) marijuana plants with a street value of
approximately $1,500,000.

Officers executed a search warrant on Tuesday morning at a former
barn site at County Road 38, Winchester, Ont. The free roam area of a
cattle barn had been converted in a sophisticated grow operation.
Electrical meters had been bypassed with an estimated value of
approximately $2,000 of electricity being diverted per month. An area
had also been set aside for living accommodations. Hydroponic lights
valued over approximately $60,000 were being used to provide
artificial light for the plants; this operation would be capable of
producing up to two crops a year, generating approximately $3,000,000
for the criminals responsible for this operation. Most are controlled
by organized crime.The two men were charged under the Controlled Drugs
and Substances Act with Possession for the purpose of Trafficking and
Production of a substance.
