DRUGS FOR THE WILLING

EDITOR: Illegal drugs found in the Carter County Jail are not unique.

Illegal drugs can be found inside almost every jail and prison in the United
States. ("Carter Jail-Judge Says Contraband Major Issue For Facility,"
2-23-04).

If illegal drugs cannot be kept out of our highest-security jails and
prison, and obviously they cannot, how do we expect to keep drugs from
getting to the willing buyers anywhere?

The simple answer is that we cannot. As long as people want recreational
drugs, and they are willing to pay a substantial price for them, somebody
will produce the drugs and somebody else will get the drugs to the willing
buyers.

This is guaranteed.
