DON'T BLAME 'SYSTEM' FOR ARREST OF STUDENTS
As a father and professional teacher, it disturbs me greatly that some
parents of the 49 students charged with selling drugs and other community
members are trying to blame the "system" for their child's problem.
The children sold drugs and should face the maximum consequences for their
actions. If the parents do not want their children taking responsibility
for their actions, then arrest the parents for ignorance and let the
parents serve the sentence.
Someone, and not the "system," needs to be accountable. Unfortunately, we
live in an area of North Carolina that has seen a tremendous influx of
drugs in the past two years. If we don't act now to deter the use of
illegal drugs, it may be too late in the future -- if it isn't too late
already.
