HARM REDUCTION NOTION BAD IDEA
The Editor:
Re: 'Turning up like a bad penny,' Times Opinion, Feb. 27.
Advising the community of Abbotsford to put pressure on the counsel
members to open a harm reduction centre is the most ignorant thing I
ever heard. Harm reduction centres only help feed the addicts and
their addictions. It does nothing but harm them as well as the community.
Addicts need to be admitted in detoxification centres and recovery
programs. Harm reduction centres are no more than the government's
roundabout way of condoning the use of illegal drug use.
Even the name harm reduction is a politically correct name. How can
anyone believe that there is harm reduction in allowing addicts to
shoot up? Why not just give these so-called harm reduction centres to
the drug dealers and traffickers?
