HOUSTON'S DRUG PROBLEM

Whitney Houston has checked into a drug-rehabilitation facility. She
has a history of drug abuse. No one filed criminal charges against
her, either for the use of the drugs or because she has a child and
that child's safety could be compromised by a parent under the
influence of drugs.

I compare this story to the larger attention by the media and law
enforcement given to a radio show host who admitted he had a problem
with prescription pain medication and also checked himself into a
drug-rehabilitation facility. The fact that the two celebrities were
treated so differently by the media and law enforcement shows that we
still have a long way to go until we get equal treatment under the
law.
