DARE TO STOP WASTE

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the Lee County School Board has
apparently seen fit to spend approximately $1 million on the D.A.R.E.
program. After all it isn't the school board's money, it's the taxpayers.

D.A.R.E. is a failed curriculum that the parent organization sold as
effective even in the face of numerous studies demonstrating its
ineffectiveness. Now the organization claims to have a new program, still
untested, and government entitles are still falling for it.

I think it's about time the Lee County School Board, along with local law
enforcement, became accountable and stopped such wasteful spending.
