ACCESSIBILITY OF DRUGS APPALLING

Sherwood Park News - I think it is appalling how accessible drugs have
become to teenagers. It is no wonder so many teens across Edmonton are
becoming addicted to crystal meth.

The same "drug epidemic" has also hit Sherwood Park and other small towns.

First, it was marijuana. Then, it was ecstasy. Now, the latest trend seems
to be crystal meth.

It is unsettling for parents to wonder if their children may have been
exposed to this horrific chemical.

In the past few weeks, I have been reading tragic stories about youths who
have destroyed their lives by experimenting with meth.

Where are the police in all of this? Why aren't they cracking down the
people who are producing, supplying and selling drugs to teenagers?

Obviously, the source of the drug problem is not being addressed. The
police are not focusing their attention on stopping the producers and
dealers. As a result, illegal substances like crystal meth are spreading
across populations of naive students.

This problem must end and the police of Edmonton and other small towns need
to keep these producers and dealers away from their communities and out of
the reach of teenagers.
