MEDICINAL MARIJUANA ON CITY COUNCIL AGENDA

Medicinal-marijuana dealers could set up shop here (Elk Grove) if the city
council approves zoning changes made by planning commissioners.

The new ordinance regulating where such shops are located and their hours is
expected to be taken up April 7 before the council.

Although federal law still considers marijuana an illegal substance,
California voters approved a ballot measure in 1996 that legalized the use
and sale of marijuana on a doctor's recommendation.
