DRUG LAW WRONG

I could hardly believe the pro-cannabis letter (26/3) by Dr Alex Wodak,
president of the Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation.

It seems to me that he is strongly in favour of the Labor Party's policy of
decriminalising drug abuse. If such messages are to be believed then one
day WA could become the choofing and toking capital of the world.

We are at the thin end of the wedge of complete drug acceptance. What might
the future bring?

Just imagine sitting in the departure lounge at our domestic airport. A
sleepy voice comes over the public announcement microphone and says: "Chill
out dudes. The captain and his crew are just finishing their reefers before
take off".

Isn't it marvellous that Premier Geoff Gallop and his team of alternative
thinkers are letting us grow cannabis plants in our backyards? Perhaps we
should all start fashioning Rastafarian hairstyles to get right into the
drug culture. I can hardly wait to play my old Bob Marley albums again.

Oops! I almost forgot. Bob died because he smoked cannabis.

G. R. SIMPSON, Kingsley.
