'JUNKIES' AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE
Editor, The NEWS:
Re: The Meth Nightmare (March 17). These articles are helpful and
informative to the public regarding the dangers of using methamphetamine.
What I find interesting is that there is no mention of local organizations,
such as Alouette Addictions Services, who help individuals and family
members who are impacted by the use of drugs and alcohol. Also, the article
only cites resources in Surrey.
It would have been helpful if the reporter, prior to writing the article,
could have done some further research to determine if there are local
resources who can assist people who are troubled by the use of this and
other illicit substances.
Alouette Addictions Services (formerly Maple Ridge Alcohol and Drug
Counselling) has been active in the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt
Meadows for 13 years offering counselling, education and prevention
services. The staff would be happy to offer information for future articles
that your newspaper may be contemplating.
