POLICE INTERCEPT RECORD DRUG SHIPMENT
The Australian Federal Police have intercepted 1.5 tonnes of
pseudoephedrine, commonly used to make the illegal drug speed, that was
destined for Australia.
Police say it is Australia's biggest pseudoephedrine haul. Police stopped a
shipment half its size six months ago.
The 1.5 tonne haul was intercepted in the Philippines.
Police say the drug bust follows a series of raids in the area as part of
an investigation involving federal and state police, Customs and the
Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency.
A number of people have been arrested and will appear in court on the Gold
Coast this afternoon.
