PROSTITUTION PROBLEMS WOULD END WITH LEGALIZATION

The item in the March 26 NewsLeader about the people whose neighbourhood is
under siege by hookers and drug dealers was notable for what was left out.
The problems these people face is a direct result of society's efforts to
legislate morality with laws banning these activities. When prostitution
and drug use are legal, taxed and regulated, the problems will end for the
hookers, the johns, the drug sellers and buyers as well as for the rest of
us. Until that day, they might as well get used to it.
