WOMAN IN FATAL CRASH: IT COULD'VE BEEN ANYONE
I know very little about this case, yet as a concerned citizen, I
wonder what, if anything, was said about an officer rolling Code 2,
above the speed limit.
Some years ago, I graduated from the Palo Alto, Calif., Reserve Police
Officers' Academy, and we learned an officer is breaking the law if he
or she exceeds the speed limit, unless they are rolling Code 3. Code
2, of course, is with lights, and Code 3 is with lights and siren.
Now, it sounds as though Ms. Jackson is guilty of having marijuana in
her system, and everyone is sad over the loss of a husband and father.
Yet anyone could have pulled out in front of a vehicle traveling at a
higher than posted speed. What about Officer Scofield's guilt in the
accident?
I just hate to see two lives destroyed, when one is already
gone.
I just feel as though our police sometimes act above the law, and must
not. I also feel deeply for Ms. Jackson and her family.
