TWO RURAL POT FARMS LINKED TO ASIAN GANG?
RCMP uncovered two more marijuana grow operations northeast of Winnipeg
Tuesday and are now investigating if they're connected to an Asian-based
crime group.
Beausejour RCMP Sgt. Dave Shuttleworth said yesterday the indoor hydroponic
grow operations were discovered at two residences northeast of Beausejour
in the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead. The exact location is not being
released as the investigation is ongoing.
Shuttleworth said police learned of their existence from a Crime Stoppers
tip several months ago.
RCMP say Mounties from Oakbank and Beausejour detachments raided both rural
properties and seized 850 marijuana plants plus hydroponic growing equipment.
Shuttleworth said investigators are looking at whether the grows are
connected to a recent rash of grow operations found in and around Winnipeg
this year.
