PARENTS OUGHT TO BE GRATEFUL FOR DRUG STING
This letter is directed to the parents of all the students who were
"busted" in the drug sting in Alamance County schools back in February.
Parents, get down on your knees and be thankful your children were
saved by the Alamance undercover police officers.
I've been an emergency nurse for 17 years and have firsthand seen the
results of what drugs do to people.
The results of drug use are devastating, with users and dealers going
to emergency rooms, mental institutions, prison and graves.
It's unfortunate that such a gifted and talented athlete as JamesOn
Curry was caught up in this, but he's so fortunate to be caught now
and not suffer the tragedy of another gifted and talented basketball
player a few years ago named Len Bias. Immediately after signing a
contact with the Boston Celtics, Bias died from a cocaine overdose.
Another truly gifted basketball player named David Thompson had his
professional career ruined by cocaine use.
I take my hat off to the law enforcement of Alamance County. They
likely have turned some young lives around and more than likely have
saved others. Parents, you should be shaking their hands instead of
ridiculing them.
They may very well have just saved your child's life.
