POOR ATTENDANCE AT DRUG INFO TALKS

Despite the hype about drug abuse there was a distinct lack of support
for a recent information evening organised by Moyle Community Safety
Forum.

In total, less than 30 people turned out for the public meetings in
Ballycastle, Cushendall and Bushmills - even though there was a hue
and cry in February that the area was awash with drugs.

It is thought that none of the self-styled community activists who
exposed the infamous Coleraine cannabis 'farm' attended any of the
meetings on March 30, 31 or April 1.

The evening had been organised as a direct response to community calls
for action over drug abuse with dealers and comes on the back of at
least two invitations from Moyle Community Safety Forum members were
disappointed by the low turn out.

One of the organisers, John Moloney, said: "The feedback that we
received was that this evening was a very worthwhile, informative exercise.
