Unvarnished Truth:

JUSTICE DENIED: HOUSTON CRIME LAB NOT CREDIBLE

1. Our drug laws have in place mechanisms designed (supposedly,) to ensure
proper procedures, exact gathering of evidence, proper analysis of that
evidence and truthful presentation of facts gathered to a court of law. In
Tulia Texas, a lone undercover narcotics agent named Tom Coleman stood
alone, providing the only evidence presented to the courts, that indicted
39 black residents of the town, sending some of them to prison for terms of
60 years or more for sales of minor amounts of powder cocaine.

2. Following a special investigation of the Tulia busts, former Officer Tom
Coleman was found to be a liar. The judge determined the evidence provided
by Tom Coleman was simply: "not credible." The Tulia defendants were
subsequently released and given a pardon by the governor.

3. Certainly we should be proud to live in a nation wherein, when any
segment of the procedures necessary to convict our fellow citizens is found
to be lacking, any such convictions brought forth must be overturned forthwith.

Tulia stands as an example, of the failed and flailing mechanisms of the
drug war. Because the arrests in Tulia represented a major portion of the
black population and happened in one night, it stands as a glaring example
of the drug war run running rampant.

But we have troubles right here in "River City", (Houston.) Our crime lab
has failed in the exact same way Coleman failed the system. The supervisor
of the Houston Crime lab, proven deficient and incapable, was fired from
her position for failing both the written and physical standards tests for
drug analysis. She has since been reinstated at a lower position due to
back office pressure.

One thing is certain, all the drug tests done at the Houston Police Crime
Lab are "not credible", every one of them!

Just as in 1., (above), the evidence presented to the courts by the Houston
Crime Lab have been deemed to be "not credible". The DPS office which was
to supervise our incompetent staff after the closure of our incompetent lab
on Halloween, has itself now been found to be unable to provide sufficient
oversight to the processing and analysis of drug samples.

Just as in 2., (above), all prisoners convicted of drug possession, sales
and trafficking by evidence provided by the Houston Crime Lab must be
released forthwith and given a pardon by the governor.

Just as in 3. (above) until such time that these prisoners of the failed
and hopeless drug war are freed, we cannot be proud, nor should we rest
until such time that all these people are freed, lest our justice system be
deemed "not credible."

Help Free the Thousands Imprisoned by the Lies and Ineptitude of the
Houston Crime Lab

As part of Project Housterdam, it will be our goal to educate, berate and
if necessary sue the officials of our city to obtain the immediate release
of those now in prison for drug charges, sent there on evidence provided to
the courts by the discredited and disbanded crime lab of Houston
Texas. Visit www.unvarnishedtruth.org or call 281-752-9198. We will be
organizing rallies, speeches and additional actions in the coming
weeks. Help us to free your father or mother, son or daughter, friend or
co-worker whose rights were assaulted and denied by the broken justice
system of our city.
