A DOZEN PEOPLE FACE CHARGES AS GROW OPS YIELD A TRUCKLOAD FULL OF POT

Coquitlam RCMP busted 16 marijuana grow ops over a three-day period,
resulting in the seizure of enough pot plants to fill a dump truck, and
charges against 12 people.

Const. Jane Baptista said the detachment's drug squad seized approximately
10,000 marijuana plants between April 5 and 7.

The majority of the grow ops were discovered in large, high-end homes in
Coquitlam's Westwood Plateau, located on Salal Court, Manzanita Court,
Noons Creek, Jade Place, Delahaye Drive and Planetree Court. Others were
located in Port Coquitlam and other areas in Coquitlam, including near Town
Centre.

"Quite a few of them are still under investigation," Baptista said Tuesday.
"Certain homes were unoccupied and set up for that, and some had people who
appeared to live there."

She said the names of those charged and any details regarding links between
the grow ops are not yet being released.
