GREEN TEAM STEPS UP GROW OP INVESTIGATIONS

Since getting the green light to form a green team, the Burnaby RCMP unit
has been red hot busting marijuana grow operations.

The latest statistics for March show the green team dealt with 23
investigations during the month. Eight of those resulted in search warrants
being executed and a total of 2,376 plants were seized and destroyed.

The unit arrested and charged 17 suspects with offences under the
Controlled Drug and Substances Act. Police are also looking for eight
individuals who have warrants out for their arrest following these seizures.

The green team relies on a strong partnership with Burnaby residents who
are vigilant and do not want their community riddled with marijuana grow
operations. Burnaby residents are encouraged to report suspected grow
operations either directly to the Burnaby Detachment at 604-294-7922 or
Crime Stoppers at 604-699-TIPS.
