GET BACK TO AGENDA
In just a few months since being elected, our mayor seems to have
caused a lot of controversy.
First, he tried to get the city taxpayers to provide him with free
health benefits. That didn't pass.
Second, he tried to get a pay raise, or what he called legislative
compensation. That didn't work.
Now he has questioned our local law enforcement on the legal issues of
marijuana. The mayor is supposed to be a leader and set an example for
others to follow.
Based on the reaction of the city police chief, the county sheriff,
and concerned residents like myself, I can assure him that his remarks
about marijuana are not taken kindly. Not being a parent, I guess he
wouldn't understand my concerns about raising a child in an atmosphere
that allows the use of pot as an acceptable and legal drug.
For the 2003 election he promoted the "Graham agenda:" 1. Be an
unflinching advocate for city residents. 2. Hold the line on taxes. 3.
Restore dignity and decorum to city hall. 4. Promote open/accountable
government. 5. Make Watertown a place to be proud of. I think now
would be a good time for his agenda to begin.
