PEACHLAND MURDER VICTIMS WERE ALREADY IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW

Police continue to swarm around a Peachland house where two men were
gunned down early Sunday

Anthony Joseph Gorkoff, 24, and Dean Raymond Desimone, 31, died
violently in the upscale home on Victoria Street. Police responded to
reports of shots fired at 12:40 a.m

Gorkoff, of Peachland, and Desimone, of Vernon, were in trouble with
the law when their killer entered the home. Police believe the
slayings were drug related

Gorkoff was scheduled for trial on charges of producing marijuana and
trafficking after police busted a grow-op on Kelowna's Westside in
December 2002. The trial was set to start Aug. 31. Desimone was
charged with assault and uttering threats after a Jan. 2 incident at a
Vernon bodybuilding gym. He applied to vary the conditions of his bail
on March 5. A high-school student discovered a gym bag containing a
handgun on the side of a road one kilometre from the murder scene.
Police have sent the weapon to a crime lab for forensic testing to
determine whether it matches the bullets fired in the house

The teen also found a large knife and two pairs of gloves in the
bag

Results of the testing will take "some time," said RCMP Const. Heather
Macdonald. She wouldn't comment on the other items in the bag or
whether police are working on any leads

"I won't release further information at this point," she said

Members of the RCMP's general investigations, major crimes and
forensic identification sections are investigating the murders. Anyone
