ADDICTS NEED HELP, NOT BANISHMENT
What a surprise to discover how the Ahousaht First Nations plan to
deal with their drug-and-alcohol problem: "Get clean or go to Victoria."
You cannot help an alcoholic or a drug addict simply by telling him,
get clean or get out.
It's more complex.
The addicted person first has to accept his addiction and take all
the means available to be able to stand up and admit: "I am an
alcoholic or drug addict."
This is where Mayor Alan Lowe and council's help are needed to ensure
there are proper shelters run by professional medical experts to help
somebody's sick children.
