Re: Letters, March 3 edition.

Peter Nazwaski mentioned that marijuana destroyed running back (new
Toronto Argonaut) Rashaan Salaam's National Football League career and
posed the question, "Will the use of marijuana also harm the careers
of promising accountants, nurses, bricklayers or anyone else who
indulges in the practice?"

Marijuana wasn't responsible for destroying Salaam's career, it was
only an outlet. Salaam has only himself to blame.

Alcohol has a far worse track record and has been scientifically
ranked about four times more addictive than marijuana. So, the answer
is marijuana poses far less of a threat to people's careers than
alcohol does, legal stigmatisms aside.

It is not important whether or not people indulge. It is important
whether or not they indulge responsibly.
