LINE NEEDS DRAWING
Dear Editor,
In his letter [Pot use offensive, April 30 Letters to the Editor,
Langley Advance News], Jim Bugg asked a good question: "I support
their right to smoke pot or do whatever they want to do to their
bodies, but when something like this is in direct contradiction to my
basic human rights, where does one draw the line?"
Since when is smell segregation or protection from offensive odours a
basic human right?
Mr. Bugg clearly has confused an offence to human rights and an
offence to his morality as a parent. We need to be careful using terms
such as 'basic human rights,' as I think most of your readers will
agree.
There are many abhorrent human rights abuses througout the world, but
being subjected to the sweet smell of pot is hardly one of them. Let's
draw the line for Mr. Bugg.
