Local News - A number of high level drug traffickers affiliated with the
Hell's Angels motorcycle gang and believed to be responsible for much of
the trade in cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana in the Quinte region have been
sent to jail for terms of up to four years.

In April 2003, a joint forces drug investigation by Belleville Police
Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the OPP's Biker Enforcement Unit
arrested several suspects in the Quinte region.

According to police, the group called themselves the Road Warriors and were
affiliated with the Hell's Angels in Quebec and Toronto. On April 28 this
year, the majority of the charged individuals pleaded guilty to conspiracy
to traffic in a controlled substance before Judge Stephen Hunter and were
sentenced to prison terms up to four years. Police also seized $50,000 in
cash and property that was forfeited to the Crown.

Among those who pleaded guilty were Ghislain Guay (aka "Coyote"), Derek
Pang, John Matthews, Guy Charbonneau, Marc Chartrand, Georges Lavois, and
Roy Hughes. Shawn Aspeck had pleaded guilty in November 2003, and received
the equivalent of six years in a federal penitentiary.

The final guilty plea was made Monday before Judge Ted Ormston in Ontario
Court of Justice. Leo Brien is believed to have been the leading member of
the group. He was given the maximum sentence for this case.

One suspect, Alain Guillemette, remains at large on a Canada wide arrest
warrant. Police say they believe these arrests and prosecutions have "made
a significant impact on drug dealing and organized crime in the Quinte region."
