PROHIBITION SEEN AGAIN

Re: "Meth menace worries police" (April 28):

Black market adulterated alcohol poisoned, blinded and otherwise harmed
thousands during Prohibition.

The same thing is happening today with black market adulterated drugs.

You will never hear that from the cops, who are afraid that if users are
allowed once more to purchase clean, cheap, quality tested drugs at the
corner store, the demand for their services will be reduced to such an
extent that their careers may go down the drain.

Similarly, prison guards, lawyers and all the others whose jobs depend upon
certain drugs being prohibited will always reject any initiative that
threatens their livelihood.
