SUPERVISORS EXTEND DEADLINE FOR MEDICAL POT TASK FORCE

EUREKA -- Humboldt County's medical marijuana task force is getting more
time to produce recommendations on a countywide medical pot ordinance.

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday agreed to extend a 90-day deadline for
the task force to come forward with the recommendations. The deadline was
initially set to land in early June, but the task force now will have until
the end of that month.

The task force was formed earlier this year in hopes of finding a
compromise among law enforcement, schools, health care experts, patients
and caregivers on the issues of medical pot possession, use and cultivation.

County 3rd District Supervisor John Woolley, a member of the task force,
said Tuesday while he believes progress has been made, particularly
involving the schools' issues, disagreements on how much medical marijuana
the ordinance would allow persist among the task force members.

"It's hard to say where we'll finally go because people are still listening
to each other," Woolley said.

Woolley predicted recommendations will be sent to the board by the end of
June -- "if not sooner."
