FORMER BILL THOMAS FACES DRUG CHARGE
Former NFL star Thurman Thomas was arrested and charged with marijuana
possession, police said Monday.
Thomas, in town to play in a charity golf tournament, was arrested at
a hotel early Saturday. He had one partially smoked marijuana
cigarette in his possession, Fairhope police spokesman Cpl. Craig
Sawyer said.
The former Buffalo Bills running back did not immediately return a
call from Associated Press. His wife, Patti, said in a telephone
interview that Thomas was "caught up in an uncomfortable situation
with a couple of his buddies. . . . He's not claiming any
responsibility for it."
Sawyer said two hotel guests told an officer they saw Thomas with
drugs. Thomas was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana,
a misdemeanor, indicating the drug was for personal use.
