POT COLUMN PROVOKES REACTIONS

Comparing crime related to alcohol vs marijuana is not a legitimate
argument. It ignores the fact that alcohol prohibition led to crime
much, much worse than regulated alcohol. Legal alcohol is the lesser
of two evils.

Also, arguments for prohibition almost always rest on the premise that
it is in some way successful. Prohibition is a failure in every way
you can measure. Regulation brings with it a measure of control that
is impossible with prohibition.
