FOCUS ON BORDER, NOT POT

I am responding to the article, "Feds cast wide net in pot-dispensary
blitz" (July 19), about how the federal government is shutting down
marijuana dispensaries in California because they are in violation of
federal law, regardless of the fact that Californians voted to
legalize marijuana for medical use in 1996.

With all aspects of our society poised to come crashing down around
our heads, I must say that I am totally disgusted with the federal
government for spending one dime on this nonissue when there are so
many areas that truly need attention.

How is it that the federal government cannot do anything about the
massive illegal immigration problem -- after all, protecting the
nation's borders is the basic responsibility of government -- but has
time to fiddle with this nonsensical issue? I am so disgusted with my
government I truly want to sit and cry.
