EPD COPS TO TAKE DRUG TEST

ALL policemen assigned at the Eastern Police District are required to take
a drug test after a policeman was caught on camera using illegal drugs
inside a police station, Chief Supt. Oscar Valenzuela, EPD director, said
on Saturday.

Valenzuela told The Manila Times that six policemen assigned at the Police
Community Precinct 6 in Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City, have already taken
the test on Thursday after their colleague, Police Officer 1 Samuel
Quitevis, was caught using methamphetamines (shabu) inside the precinct
early morning of June 18.

The EPD covers the police forces of Marikina, Mandaluyong and San Juan. The
first to undergo the test would be the Pasig City police.

"Quitevis's action is a disgrace to the entire police force, especially
because he was in uniform when he was caught. We will conduct a drug test
on all EPD personnel to ensure that this embarrassment will not happen
again," Valenzuela said.

Because of Quitevis's misdemeanor, the PCP 6 station commander, Senior
Police Officer 3 Rufino Dancel, was relieved of his duties and would face
an administrative case for negligence.

As the police leadership cracks down on policemen using drugs, the Pasig
City police arrested two men for allegedly using shabu during a raid.

Arrested were Misale Doriano, 38, a resident of San Joaquin and Policarpio
Landano, 37, a resident of Sampaguita Lane, Barangay Caniogan, both in
Pasig City.

Acting on a tip, police arrested the two suspects in a raid at 10 a.m.
inside Landano's house.

The suspects will be charged with violation of the Dangerous Drugs Law.
